The City Challenge Urban Race is your opportunity to spend the day either as an individual or with a partner competing in a one of a kind 5K or Half Marathon urban adventure race. You'll need to think on your feet and use your brain to solve puzzles, riddles and clues from a clue sheet to find 12 destinations. Think of it like a scavenger hunt. Each race is custom built based on the history, unique features and landmarks of the city!
The City Challenge Urban Race, the ONLY 5K and Half Marathon length urban race that offers both a team of 2 and individual registration option! This amazing race adventure is for amateurs, athletes and everyone in between. Nobody enjoys traffic jams, so our courses and destinations are designed with fluidity in mind. Whether you choose to run or walk you will never be standing around waiting. You'll get to see corners and a history of the city you probably didn't know existed, and you'll have a blast doing it!
Participants will have the option of running the 5K Course (3.1 Miles) which pretty much anyone walk, jog or run and complete in a couple hours or the Half Marathon Course (13.1 Miles) with some different objectives! The courses might be slightly longer or shorter due to the geography of each city, but 90% of the time the mileage is right on the dot. We designed the Half Marathon Course for the serious runners out there who may want to do a bit more running than found in the 5K Course. You are free to use any method at your disposal to solve the clues and find the destinations (EX: smart phone, tablet, phone a friend, ask locals etc.), but you must reach them by foot (no bikes, skateboards, busses, taxis etc.) For more detailed info, visit our FAQ here: http://www.hegnessevents.com/faq.html We award medals to first, second and third place finishers from BOTH courses and divisions, and all first place finishers win prizes! Our November 10, 2013 City Challenge Urban Race 5K & Half Marathon Run Walk will be in Phoenix, Arizona!
Host location is TBA and will be announced within a month of the race via email to those already registered, and on Active, Facebook, Twitter and our website. Check in and packet pick up starts at 11:00 AM and race will start promptly at 12:00 PM You will need to bring a camera (digital, phone, Polaroid etc.), ID and a pen or pencil. Everyone gets an event shirt and sponsor provided swag. Benefiting the Livestrong Cancer Foundation and sponsored by Road ID, Clif Bar, Sports Authority and Lava Magazine.
